What is a threadless end?
A threadless end is a style of body jewelry that secures with tension. Also known as a labret, flat back, or press-fit earring, it consists of a decorative end that inserts into a hollow backing (extra $ add on) to create a secure, comfortable fit.
This style of jewelry is most often used in ear cartilage and facial piercings, but are also popular in lobe piercings as the backings are more comfortable to sleep in due to the flat back.
Threadless jewelry can be a bit tricky to install and remove, and therefore are a good fit for piercings that won't be changed out often.
Installing your jewelry
Threadless jewelry is designed to pair with a threadless labret backing, which come in a variety of lengths and gauges. What length and gauge you need depends on your anatomy, piercing placement, and healing stage.
As a jeweler, my expertise is in designing and handcrafting fine jewelry with piercing-safe materials, however, I am not a piercing professional. I strongly recommend having your end installed by your piercer so they can fit the correct post, adjust the pin for a secure hold, and install it safely and correctly.
The pins on my threadless ends are solid gold 25g (aprox 0.5mm) wire. They are compatible with industry-standard threadless titanium labret posts. If you already have industry-standard threadless backings that you use with other ends, these will most likely be compatible. If you do not have your own backing, you can add a solid 14K yellow gold, 18g 7mm backing when you add to cart.
